14 Peaks Expedition team summits Mt Aconcagua despite harsh season

KATHMANDU: A joint expedition team led by 14 Peaks Expedition successfully summited Mt Aconcagua (6,961m), the highest peak in the Western and Southern Hemispheres, on January 28, 2026, despite one of the most challenging climbing seasons on the mountain.
According to 14 Peaks Expedition, the team reached the summit at 2:11 pm under the leadership of the company’s Founder and CEO Tashi Lakpa Sherpa and Nima Rinji Sherpa. The expedition was organized in collaboration with Argentina-based Inka Expediciones.
The summit team included Tashi Lakpa Sherpa and Nima Rinji Sherpa of Nepal, Evelyn Duarte Lara of Mexico, Richard William Chambers of the United Kingdom, Shahad A M H D Alzaabi of Kuwait, Matias Yoel Fabrizio of Argentina, and expedition doctor Catalina Giusti of Argentina. Several other climbers, including Martin Sevcak of the Czech Republic and Angus Paradice of Australia, also joined the journey and supported the expedition along the route.
14 Peaks Expedition congratulated the international team for their resilience and teamwork in difficult conditions and wished all members a safe descent back to base camp.
