KATHMANDU: The 14 Peaks Expedition team has successfully reached the summit of Carstensz Pyramid (4,884m) — the highest mountain in Oceania — at 7:40 a.m. local time on Wednesday.
The expedition was led by senior guide Lakpa Sherpa and included climbers Raju Lama (Nepal), Cristel Vanessa Estol Garay (Uruguay), Ignacio Jose Sunderland Portilla (Mexico), and Regina Ceballos Vergara (Mexico).
Among the team, Raju Lama, popular singer-songwriters fron Nepal, drew special attention.
"We’re especially delighted to have Raju Lama, one of Nepal’s most beloved singer-songwriters, join this expedition. His journey from music to the mountains continues to inspire," the company said.
Lama, who previously summited Mt. Everest on May 16, 2022, continues to inspire many through his passion for both music and mountaineering.
According to 14 Peaks Expedition, the team achieved a safe and successful ascent of this technically demanding peak located in Papua, marking another milestone in their pursuit of the Seven Summits.
