KATHMANDU: A 21-member team of international climbers and Nepali Sherpas successfully reached the summit of Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m) on Friday, the 8K Expeditions confirmed.
The summiters included 10 Chinese climbers—Li Bo, Wu Zhaolong, Li Jian, Zhang Xuchai, Zhao Meilin, Yang Jun, Li Lili, Tian Yungui, Cai Peilin, and Wang Xing—along with Iranian climber Kambiz Bolouri. They were supported by 10 Nepali Sherpas who also reached the summit: Dawa Tenzi, Pasang Gyalje, Ngima Thindu, Dawa Sherpa, Mingma D, Dawa Tenjen, Dawa Nurbu, Ming Dawa, Phurba, and Tashi Sherpa.
Expedition leader Lakpa Sherpa, Managing Director at 8K Expeditions, said the team overcame technical terrain, high-altitude challenges, and harsh weather to reach the summit.
"A huge congratulations to all the climbers and our Sherpa heroes who made this achievement possible. Your strength, courage, and determination inspire us all!" he said.
The climbers are now descending safely, while the next group prepares for their summit push tonight, Sherpa added.
This follows another successful ascent on September 25, when nine international climbers—including Zolbookhuu Ombo (Mongolia), Tamara Claire LH and Wesley Om Marks (UK), and Maria Kinash (Moldova)—reached the summit accompanied by elite Nepali Sherpas Dawa Ongju, Tsering Pemba (IFMGA), Ang Pasang, Pemba Dorchee, and Pasa Rinji.
With these successes, 8K Expeditions continues to promote Nepal as a prime destination for adventure tourism. The company is also leading expeditions this autumn to Dhaulagiri, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, and Himlung Himal, attracting climbers from around the world.
