KATHMANDU: A team of five international climbers successfully reached the summit of Lobuche Peak (6,119m) in Nepal’s Khumbu region on October 22 with 14 Peaks Expedition, marking another highlight of the autumn climbing season.
The group included 71-year-old Naomi Carmona Morshead from the United States, who became one of the oldest climbers to scale the peak. She was joined by Adela Maria Lehrer Alarcon and Oswaldo Aurelio Freire Cartagena from Ecuador, Thais Amadei Pegoraro from Spain, and Dominic Angelo Cifelli from Italy, along with their Sherpa guides.
According to 14 Peaks Expedition, Morshead’s accomplishment “proves that passion and perseverance know no limits.”
The team’s successful climb underscores the growing participation of veteran mountaineers and international climbers in Nepal’s mid-altitude Himalayan peaks this season.
