KATHMANDU: Renowned for its high-quality adventure services, one of the country’s largest expedition outfitters, 8K Expeditions Pvt Ltd, marked its fifth anniversary today, renewing its commitment to providing responsible and professional services in the years ahead.

8K Expeditions is run by three young tourism entrepreneurs—Lakpa Sherpa, Pemba Sherpa, and Lakpa Thendu Sherpa—who each bring more than a decade of experience in the tourism industry. The company organizes multiple expeditions to Himalayan peaks every year. This year, it said it plans to run one of the largest expeditions to the world’s highest peak, Mt Everest.

Lakpa Sherpa, a professional mountaineer, renowned rescuer, artist, and social activist, has spent more than 13 years in the Himalayas. An accomplished trekking and mountaineering guide, he has led hundreds of climbers to the summits of the world’s highest peaks, primarily Mt Everest and Mt K2.

“My motto is to bring transformational change to climbing, climbers, and local communities through the activities of 8K,” he said. According to him, the company’s mission is to offer life-changing adventure experiences backed by top-notch service and high safety standards.

Pemba Sherpa, a passionate adventure enthusiast, has dedicated nearly a decade to the tourism industry. He has supported numerous expeditions and treks with his management expertise.

“We leave no stone unturned to provide the safest and best possible services to our clients,” he said.

Lakpa Thendu Sherpa, who has extensive experience in trekking, tours, peak climbing, and high-altitude mountaineering, has led hundreds of international trekkers and climbers to peaks above 6,000m, 7,000m, and 8,000m. Over his career, he has worked with teams from countries including Korea, the UK, India, Singapore, and Morocco.

“Our mission is to serve adventure-seeking clients with life-changing trips ensured by top-quality service and a strong focus on safety,” he said.
