KATHMANDU: Celebrated British mountaineer Kenton Cool has scaled Mount Everest for the 20th time, breaking his own record for the most summits of the world’s highest peak by any foreign climber.

According to Iswari Paudel, Managing Director of Himalayan Guides, Cool—hailing from Gloucestershire in South West England—reached the summit on the morning, also surpassing his previous British record for most Everest ascents.

Cool was accompanied by climbing partner Dorji Gyaljen, who summited Everest for the 24th time, Paudel added.

The 53-year-old Cool made history in 2013 as the first British climber to scale Mount Nuptse, Mount Everest, and Mount Lhotse in a single season. In 2021, he topped Mount Lhotse less than 29 hours after standing on the summit of Everest.
