Chinese influencer Cookie scales Mt Everest without using oxygen, American Justin Sackett abandons from Balcony

KATHMANDU: Chinese climber and social media influencer Yan Chunqi, popularly known as ‘Cookie’ has climbed My Everest without using supplemental oxygen this afternoon, said expedition organiser.

According to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, Cheif Executive Officer at 14 Peaks Expeditions, Cookie along with other climbers scaled Mt Everest at around 1:00pm.

“Cookie, the 31-year-old athlete, successfully made it to the top without using bottled oxygen support,” said Tashi Lakpa. Cookie was guided by climber Dorchi Sherpa to the top of Everest summit.

Another American climber Justin Sackett, who also attempted to scale Mt Everest without using oxygen support, had however turned around from above Balcony area feeling a bit unwell.

“Justin is now descending to South Col safely after abandoning his summit bid,” Tashi Lakpa shared.
