KATHMANDU: A total of eight climbers from Seven Summit Treks successfully reached the summit of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m) today, marking the ongoing autumn climbing season.
The successful team included Paula Birgitta Strengell of Finland, Mohammadmehdi Nasootifard and Seyedhamidreza Hashemi of Iran, along with Sherpa climbers Mingtemba Sherpa, Tasi Sherpa, Chhangba Sherpa, and Ong Dorchi Sherpa of Nepal.
The SST called it “a remarkable success on one of the most challenging 8,000ers,” and wished them a safe return to base camp.
This follows earlier ascents on September 28, when two climbers also stood on the summit, bringing the season’s total so far to 10 successful summits with the company.
The route to the summit was opened on September 26.
