KATHMANDU: Two women climbers have made history on Annapurna IV, marking a significant milestone in mountaineering.

On October 20, Yi Schuler became the first American woman and the seventh woman overall to summit Annapurna IV, reaching the peak at 8:35 a.m. local time. Just five minutes later, Shuhan Yu became the first Chinese woman, and the eighth woman in history, to stand on the summit.

Both ascents were achieved under the banner of Namas Adventure, which has previously guided Simone Mötler of Germany, the sixth female summiteer of Annapurna IV in 2023.

"A monumental moment for our climbers and for NAMAS Adventure, celebrating courage, perseverance, and the unyielding spirit of exploration that defines every ascent, NAMAS Adventure said in its facebook post, adding, "History made. Barriers broken. Stories lived."
