KATHMANDU: A Korean climber died while ascending Mt. Ama Dablam on Saturday morning.

According to J Vill Nepal Treks, 70-year-old Hong K. Park breathed his last above Camp I while heading toward the high camp for a summit push at around 9:00 a.m. on October 26.

“The Korean climber died of cardiac arrest,” officials said, citing reports from his guides. Park was part of a three-member Korean expedition, the company confirmed.

Efforts are underway to bring his body back to Kathmandu.

This is the second fatality on Ama Dablam this season.

Earlier, Peruvian-French climber Hugo Lucio Colonia Lazaro died while undergoing treatment at Kathmandu’s HAMS Hospital in the early hours of October 24.

Lazaro had met with an accident while descending from Camp III after summiting the peak on October 23.
