KATHMANDU: The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has installed new summit signage on Mera Peak (6,470m), featuring the NMA flag and key peak information, and is requesting all climbing teams to include the board in their summit photographs for certification purposes.

Summit photos are used by the NMA to verify and certify successful ascents, and climbers are asked to ensure the newly installed signage is clearly visible in their images.

Located in the Hinku Valley of Solukhumbu, Mera Peak is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal, drawing a large number of climbers each season — making accurate and verifiable summit certification a practical necessity.

The NMA has separately also installed similar signage at the summit of Chulu East (6,584m) in Manang.

Climbing teams heading to Chulu East have been similarly requested to capture summit photos with the signage in the background.
