Nimsdai makes 57 summits of 8000ers, 29 without O2, Cho Oyu remains for 14 peaks hat-trick

KATHMANDU: Nepali-British climber Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai) scaled Gasherbrum II in Pakistan completing 57 summits of the mountains above 8000m.
Guiding a Russian woman climber Nikol Kovalchuk to the top, Nimsdai stood atop G-II without bottled oxygen support on July 22, said Mingma Gyabu Sherpa, co-owner of Elite Exped. “With G-II summit, Nimsdai completed his 57th successful ascent of an 8,000-meter peak, including 29 summits without supplemental oxygen,” Sherpa, who is also a member of House of Representatives, posted.
With only Cho Oyu remaining, Nimsdai is on the verge of completing his remarkable Hat-Trick Project: climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks three times and completing the Seven Summits three times, according to Mingma David.
“NImsdai has announced a hat trick project to raise just over £1 million for the Nimsdai Foundation,” he added.
