KATHMANDU: Danga Peak in Taplejung’s Kanchenjunga region will become a practical training ground for mountaineering students and instructors as a Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) team begins a week-long field programme there.

The NMA Training Team has departed for the Kanchenjunga region to conduct practical mountain training at Danga Peak. Following the training, a combined team of students and instructors will attempt to summit the peak.

According to the NMA, the programme is designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in a real mountain environment.

The team was seen off by senior NMA officials, including President Fur Gelje Sherpa, Sustainable Tourism Project National Coordinator KB Shah, and National Manager Dharma Dawadi. Other officials present included Senior Vice President Iswari Paudel, Second Vice President Bodha Raj Bhandari, General Secretary Rajendra Bahadur Lama, Training and Expedition Committee Convenor Phuri Geljen Sherpa, and other executive board members.

The field programme will combine practical training with a summit attempt, giving trainees the opportunity to apply their skills under actual mountain conditions. The NMA said the initiative is expected to contribute to the development of professional mountaineering training in Nepal.
