KATHMANDU: A renowned guide from Alpine Ascents International, along with other climbers, scaled Mt Everest today, the expedition organiser said.

"A team led by AAI guide Benjamin (Ben) Jones from the USA stood atop the world's highest mountain this morning," said Jiban Ghimire, Managing Director of Shangri-La Nepal Treks (SNT). Ghimire informed that Alpine Ascents leader Ben Jones climbed Mt Everest for the 11th time as part of the SNT Everest Expedition 2026.

"Ben, along with Dawa Gelje Sherpa, reached the summit at around 5:00 am after finding a clear weather window," Ghimire added, noting that they are now descending to lower camps.

Earlier, on May 21, Leonardo Avezzano, Lhakpa Chhiri Sherpa, and Cho Lakpa Sherpa from SNT scaled Mt Everest at 10:48 am, according to Ghimire.
