KATHMANDU: A joint rope-fixing team from 14 Peaks Expedition and Seven Summit Treks successfully opened the autumn climbing route on Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) early Friday morning.

The team reached the summit at 7:05 a.m., enabling more than 25 foreign climbers and their guides to begin summit pushes in the coming days, according to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa CEO of 14 peaks Expedition.

The lead team comprised experienced Sherpas Tashi Sherpa, Lakpa Temba Sherpa, Phurba Kusang Sherpa, and Pasang Nurbu Sherpa—all from Makalu Municipality in Sankhuwasabha, Tashi added.

With the route now secured, international expeditions can proceed toward the world’s seventh-highest peak during the ongoing autumn season.
