Dokpya Sports win Babu Chhiri Sherpa Memorial Volleyball Cup in New York
KATHMANDU: Dokpya Sports won 1st Edition Babu Chhiri Sherpa Memorial Volleyball Cup which was organised at Queens Bridge Park in New York today.
According to the US Nepal Climbers Association Inc. Tokpe Gola Sports and Garma Sherwi Chhokpa secured second and third position in the tournament.
This tournament was held in loving memory of legendary mountaineer, Late Babu Chhiri Sherpa, whose courage and achievements continue to inspire generations. He successfully summited Mt. Everest 10 times and made history by spending 21 hours on the summit without supplemental oxygen - a world record that remains unbroken to this day.
In memory of his courage, determination and inspiration this event was organized to promote unity, teamwork, and the spirit of sportsmanship within our community, said USNCA.

At least eight teams including Dhokpya Sports, Garma Sherwi Tsokpa, USNCA, Sindhu, Topkegola Sport, Dolakha (A), Dolakha (B) and GTKT took part in the competition.
The event was attended by Ang Futi Sherpa, wife of late Babuchhiri, as a chief guest.
