KATHMANDU: Godawari Municipality in Bagmati Province has signed a Friendship City agreement with Wyndham City in Victoria, Australia, in a partnership that both sides say opens new avenues for tourism promotion, cultural exchange, and community-level cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement, signed by Wyndham City Mayor Preet Singh and Godawari Municipality Chief Administrative Officer Man Bahadur Khadka, was facilitated by tourism entrepreneur D.N. Ghising and welcomed by a gathering of Nepali-origin business and community representatives in Australia.
Godawari Municipality, known for its natural beauty, biodiversity, and cultural heritage, and Wyndham City, recognised for its multicultural society and sustainable urban development, are expected to leverage the partnership for people-to-people exchanges and joint initiatives in tourism, education, and environmental conservation.
Speakers at the event described the agreement as a grassroots extension of the 66-year diplomatic relationship between Nepal and Australia, expressing confidence that the partnership would strengthen long-term ties between the two communities.
