30 officers complete specialized training on altitude sickness, oxygen use, and Gamow Bag operations
KATHMANDU: The Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal (HRA) has successfully conducted a specialized training program for the Nepal Police Disaster Management Division, equipping officers with essential skills to respond to emergencies in high-altitude environments.
A total of 30 police officers participated in the comprehensive session, which focused on recognizing and preventing altitude sickness, proper administration of oxygen, and hands-on use of the Gamow Bag, a critical device for treating severe altitude sickness.
“This training reflects our ongoing commitment to support the Nepal Police and strengthen their ability to respond effectively in Nepal’s challenging mountainous terrain,” said Damber Parajuli, President of HRA. “By sharing our expertise, we aim to enhance disaster preparedness and save lives in high-altitude emergencies.”
HRA regularly collaborates with the Nepal Police on rope rescue training and other capacity-building initiatives. The latest program underscores the organization’s dedication to promoting safety and preparedness in Nepal’s mountainous regions.
