Nepal Specialist Program’ invites the world to explore—and promote—the Himalayan nation like never before

KATHMANDU: Imagine being certified to talk about Nepal—not by any travel agency or influencer, but by Nepal itself.

The Nepal Tourism Board has rolled out a unique global initiative called the Nepal Specialist Program, a free and flexible online course designed to transform curious travelers and tourism professionals into certified experts on the country.

Whether you’re a seasoned tour operator or a passionate adventurer, this self-paced program offers a deep dive into Nepal’s cultural soul, natural beauty, and commitment to sustainable tourism.

The first step is the Nepal Travel Specialist – Basic course, which equips participants with in-depth knowledge and practical skills to craft exceptional travel experiences across Nepal—from the towering peaks of the Himalayas to the rich cultural heritage of its ancient cities, the Nepal Tourism Board stated.

Through 10 thoughtfully crafted modules and 39 engaging lessons, participants will walk—virtually—through the valleys of Kathmandu, the peaks of the Himalayas, and the quiet trails of community-based tourism initiatives. The content, delivered in English, includes videos, interactive segments, and real-world insights from tourism insiders.

Upon completion, learners are awarded the Nepal Specialist certificate—a credential that comes not only with knowledge, but with purpose and unlock new content and recognition in our global community, the NTB said. For travel agents and tour designers, it opens the door to crafting authentic, meaningful itineraries that go beyond the ordinary. For travelers and culture lovers, it’s a way to explore Nepal more deeply—even before landing at Tribhuvan International Airport.

The course includes practical tools too: how to navigate permit systems, plan multi-region trips, incorporate wellness and adventure into travel packages, and design experiences that respect local traditions and environments.

It’s not just education—it’s connection. Graduates also join a global network of Nepal enthusiasts, creating opportunities for collaboration and community among people who share a passion for this extraordinary country.
