Annapurna region welcomes 21,048 foreign visitors in September

The Annapurna Conservation Area recorded more than 21,000 international visitors in September, with arrivals increasing 8.6 percent year-on-year despite remaining below the 2024 peak.

KATHMANDU: The Annapurna Conservation Area recorded 21,048 international visitor arrivals in September, an 8.6 percent increase from the same month last year, according to data from the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).

Of the total visitors recorded in September 2026, 10,705 were from countries outside the SAARC region, while 10,343 were SAARC nationals. Non-SAARC visitors accounted for 50.9 percent of the total.

The latest figures represent an increase from September 2025, when the Annapurna region recorded 19,386 international visitors, including 10,844 non-SAARC and 8,542 SAARC tourists.

Despite the year-on-year growth, arrivals remained below the recent peak reached in September 2024, when the conservation area welcomed 23,088 international visitors.

The 2024 total comprised 12,017 non-SAARC visitors and 11,071 visitors from SAARC countries.

Visitor arrivals declined to 19,386 in September 2025 before recovering this year, indicating renewed momentum in trekking and tourism activity across the Annapurna region.

Historical data show the conservation area recorded 19,181 international visitors in September 2023 and 16,297 visitors in September 2022.
