KATHMANDU: Bhaktapur Municipality has announced an increase in its entry fee for non-SAARC tourists visiting the ancient city. The new fee structure will be effective from July 17 the new entry fee will be USD 15 or Rs  2,000.

Previously, the fee was collected as USD 15 or Rs 1,800 in Nepali Rupees. However, to account for fluctuations in the exchange rate, the municipal executive meeting held on June 16, 2025, decided to standardize the Nepali currency equivalent to NPR 2,000 while keeping the USD amount unchanged at 15.

The municipality has informed concerned stakeholders, including the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN), and requested their support in enforcing the updated fee structure.

Bhaktapur, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is celebrated for its preserved medieval art, architecture, and vibrant cultural traditions. The municipality oversees its administration and development, with tourist entry fees contributing to the conservation and maintenance of this heritage city.
