KATHMANDU: The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has submitted its recommendations for the Nepal Tourism Board’s budget for fiscal year 2083/84, calling for stronger funding for international tourism promotion and programmes aimed at expanding key source markets.

HAN Secretary General Sajan Shakya and Executive Committee Member Ashlesha Karki participated in discussions on the NTB budget and raised the hospitality sector’s concerns and priorities, according to the association.

HAN has urged the tourism board to allocate dedicated budgets for promotional programmes in India, China and Buddhist-majority countries, which it has identified as important markets for Nepal’s tourism promotion.

The association has also proposed funding for programmes it considers capable of creating greater impact, including the Nepal Hospitality Expo and Conclave and the Himalayan Wellness Summit.

HAN said adequate budgetary provisions and effective programmes are needed to strengthen Nepal’s tourism promotion both nationally and internationally.

The association’s recommendations come as stakeholders seek greater emphasis on targeted international promotion and programmes that can support Nepal’s hospitality and broader tourism industry
