Ambassador cites President Paudel's recent visit as milestone in 70-year bilateral relations
KATHMANDU: Japan marked its National Day with a reception hosted by Ambassador Maeda Toru at his official residence in Tahachal on Tuesday, celebrating the 66th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.
Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav attended as chief guest alongside some 380 dignitaries, including government ministers, former prime ministers, ambassadors, heads of international organizations, and friends of Japan.
In his remarks, Ambassador Maeda highlighted President Ramchandra Paudel's recent visit to Japan (February 1-5) as a significant step in commemorating 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
"The President's visit reaffirmed our long-standing friendship and paved the way for deeper collaboration in the years ahead," Ambassador Maeda said, adding that Japan remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Nepal across peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
The milestone anniversary has brought renewed focus to bilateral cooperation, particularly in tourism, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges — sectors where Japan has been a key development partner for Nepal.
