KATHMANDU: Trekking routes in the Nar-Phu region of Manang, including the trail to Kang La Pass, are open amid generally clear weather, according to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).

In an update issued on October 15, ACAP said normal daily activities were continuing in the Nar-Phu area. The routes to Phu and Nar villages, from Nar to Nawal, and from Nar to Kang La Pass were reported open.

However, ACAP cautioned that mountain weather can change rapidly, particularly around high passes, where snow, ice, strong winds and poor visibility may pose risks to trekkers.

Trekkers have been advised to check the latest weather forecasts and trail conditions with local authorities, guides or lodge operators before setting out. They should start early, carry adequate warm clothing, waterproof gear, food, water and emergency supplies, and avoid crossing high passes in unsafe weather.

ACAP also urged trekkers to follow local authorities' instructions and turn back if conditions deteriorate, noting that an open trail does not guarantee safe conditions throughout the day.
