KATHMANDU: The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) on Monday held a farewell ceremony at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to bid good wishes to the Nepali delegation heading to FITUR 2026, one of the world’s leading international travel and tourism fairs, to be held in Madrid, Spain, from January 21 to 25.

The delegation, led by NATTA President Kumar Mani Thapaliya and accompanied by NATTA board members, will represent Nepal at the five-day event. The farewell programme was jointly organised by NATTA and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

According to NATTA, the FITUR 2026 delegation is being coordinated by Krishna Prasad Dhakal of Desire Treks, while Krishna Prasad Dhakal of Kathmandu Holidays is serving as the sub-coordinator.

More than 30 Nepali travel and tourism companies are participating in the event, which is expected to provide a major platform to promote Nepal’s destinations, culture and travel experiences to a global audience. The participation also aims to strengthen networking with international tour operators, travel professionals and tourism stakeholders.

NATTA said Nepal’s presence at FITUR 2026 will focus on expanding market outreach in Europe, showcasing adventure tourism, trekking, mountaineering, cultural heritage and nature-based experiences, and exploring new business opportunities for the country’s tourism industry.

NATTA and NTB expressed confidence that the delegation’s participation at FITUR 2026 would contribute to positioning Nepal as a premier tourism destination and help revive and diversify international tourist flows in the post-pandemic period.
