KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Bangladesh-Nepal Friendship Society, organised Nepal Festival 2026 at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka on Friday, featuring a food festival and cultural performances aimed at strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari said the event sought to highlight the shared cultural and culinary affinities between Nepal and Bangladesh, describing them as a strong foundation for bilateral relations.
Bangladesh's Minister for Cultural Affairs Nitai Roy Chowdhury, the chief guest, expressed confidence the festival would bring the two peoples closer and stressed the importance of cultural exchanges in deepening bilateral friendship.
The cultural programme featured 14 performances, including traditional Nepali dance forms such as Sorathi, Sakhiya, Lathi, Salaijo Jhyaure, and Kaura, presented by artists from Pokhara Academy and Nepali students based in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi artists also performed a Nepali dance and a Nepali ghazal alongside their own folk presentations.
Eight food stalls serving authentic Nepali dishes, set up largely by Nepali students in Bangladesh, were also part of the festival.
