KATHMANDU: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) organised a Nepal Promotion Evening in Toronto on February 19, on the eve of the Outbound Adventure Show, aiming to strengthen Nepal’s presence in the Canadian outbound travel market.
The promotional event was held in coordination with the Embassy of Nepal, Ottawa and five participating Nepali private tourism companies, focusing on expanding business linkages and market insights in Canada.
Addressing members of Toronto’s travel trade community, Nepal’s Ambassador to Canada Bharat Raj Paudel highlighted improved accessibility to Nepal and the government’s visa-friendly policies aimed at increasing tourist arrivals from Canada.
NTB Senior Manager Surya Thapaliya presented Nepal’s diverse tourism products, upgraded infrastructure, and the growing role of the private sector in enhancing service standards in recent years. Kundan Sharma, Senior Officer at NTB, outlined the objective of the event as fostering networking and business-to-business engagement between Nepali and Canadian tourism stakeholders.
Canada remains a steady contributor to Nepal’s North American visitor arrivals, with annual arrivals hovering between 15,000 and 16,000. Tourism officials view Canada as a potential top ten source market, citing its strong cross-demographic interest in outdoor and adventure travel.
The initiative reflects Nepal’s continued efforts to diversify source markets and tap into Canada’s expanding adventure tourism segment.
