KATHMANDU: Nepal’s tourism sector is bouncing back stronger than ever, with 70,193 international travelers making their way to the country in July 2025.
According to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), this figure represents a 108.7% rise compared to July 2024 and nearly a full recovery (99%) compared to July 2019, before the pandemic disrupted global travel.
Indian tourists remained in the lead, with 27,152 visitors visiting Nepal, followed by China (6,890) and the USA (6,626).
Other top visitors in July included Bangladesh (4,413), the UK (3,547), Australia (1,665), South Korea (1,231), Japan (1,214), Malaysia (1,205), and Bhutan (1,167), NTB said citing the Department of Immigration data.
South Asia accounted for the largest regional share with 33,787 visitors, representing 48% of total arrivals, a 24.2% increase from July 2024 and a 30% rise from 2019 figures.
Industry stakeholders say the latest figures reflect Nepal’s resilience and sustained global appeal as a travel destination.
With arrivals nearing pre-pandemic levels, boosted by key markets in South Asia and beyond, Nepal’s tourism sector is on track for continued growth through the rest of 2025.
