KATHMANDU: A new trekking trail giving access to Pochoka Glacial Lake in Manang has been completed, opening one of the Annapurna region's lesser-known alpine destinations to a wider range of visitors.
The trail, constructed in Manang Nishyang-6, covers approximately 540 metres of newly built pathway with an additional 137.5 metres of stone-paved and elevated sections designed for durability and year-round use. The construction was carried out by NTNC's Annapurna Conservation Area Project.
Pochoka Glacial Lake sits in the shadow of Annapurna III and is surrounded by alpine flora and fauna, but had previously been difficult to reach.
The new infrastructure is intended to bring the lake into the circuit of viable trekking destinations in Manang while keeping visitor access manageable and sustainable.
