TANAHUN: The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) has commenced a two-day rock-climbing training at Bimal Nagar in Tanahun district, bringing professional mountain skills development out of Kathmandu and into Gandaki Province as part of its ongoing Professional Mountain Leader Fundamental Skills Training.
The training is organised by the NMA in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board's Gandaki Province Office, with co-organisation from the NMA Gandaki Province Committee. It was formally inaugurated at the venue by NMA Central Executive Board Member Dawa Tashi Sherpa and NTB Gandaki Province Office Senior Manager Yubraj Gurung, who marked the occasion by signing the official event banner.
Prior to the team's departure for Tanahun, NMA General Secretary Rajendra Bahadur Lama and Treasurer Sumi Moktan held a send-off ceremony in Kathmandu, extending their best wishes to participants and instructors.
The training is aimed at strengthening participants' technical rock-climbing skills and forming part of the broader effort to develop competent and responsible mountain professionals across Nepal's regions — building the kind of certified guiding talent that the country's growing adventure tourism sector increasingly requires beyond the established trekking and climbing corridors.
