KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board brought together wellness experts, tourism entrepreneurs, and sector stakeholders in Kathmandu on Thursday for a talk session on wellness tourism, as the government advances preparations for Wellness Tourism Year 2027.

Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation secretary Mukunda Prasad Niraula, speaking at the event, said the government is actively working to roll out its national Wellness Tourism Strategy and sees Nepal's cultural heritage, spiritual traditions, and natural environment as core assets for the sector.

NTB officiating CEO Hikmat Singh Ayer said the country's blend of nature, culture, spirituality, yoga, and adventure makes it a naturally well-positioned destination for wellness-focused travellers worldwide.

The keynote was delivered by Professor Dr. Deniz Kucukusta of Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Hotel and Tourism Management, who noted that demand among global travellers for healing, mindfulness, and transformative experiences is growing — and that Nepal is well-placed to meet it.

Discussions at the session covered yoga, pranayama, sound healing, and sustainable wellness tourism development.
