TAAN urges trekkers to avoid Dharapani-Larke route after flood damage

KATHMANDU: Trekkers planning the Dharapani-Larke Pass route in Manang have been advised to avoid the trail for now after heavy rainfall damaged a section of the trekking route and destroyed a suspension bridge.
According to the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN), the Budebagar section of the Dharapani-Larke Pass trail in Tilche, Nasho Rural Municipality, suffered severe damage following heavy rainfall on August 5 and 6.
The flooding damaged parts of the trail and destroyed a suspension bridge over the Surkhi Khola, potentially disrupting access along the trekking route.
TAAN has urged trekkers to avoid the affected section until local authorities complete necessary repairs and confirm that the route is safe for travel.
The association said it would continue seeking the latest information on the condition of the trail and provide updates to trekkers and tourism stakeholders.
The damage comes during Nepal's monsoon season, when heavy rainfall can affect trekking trails, bridges and other infrastructure in mountain areas.
