Trail-based tourism training kicks off in Gorkha to boost BHHGLC Circuit

KATHMANDU: A three-day Trail-Based Tourism Development, Promotion, and Management Training commenced on Thursday in Bhachek Bazaar of Ajirkot Rural Municipality, Gorkha, aiming to promote the newly explored Buddha Himal Himalchuli Great Lakes Circuit (BHHGLC) Trail.
The training program is a collaborative effort between the Nepal Tourism Board, UNDP’s Sustainable Tourism Project (STP), and TAAN, in coordination with five rural municipalities from Gorkha and Lamjung districts.
The program was inaugurated by Deepak Devkota, Chairperson of Ajirkot RM, in a brief ceremony attended by TAAN Executive Committee Members Ambir Bdr. Gurung and Pabitra Tamang, as well as Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Immediate Past 2nd Vice President of TAAN.
The BHHGLC trail passes through Barpak Sulikot and Ajirkot RMs of Gorkha, and Dudhpokhari, Dordi, and Marsyangdi RMs of Lamjung, and the training aims to strengthen the capacities of key tourism stakeholders responsible for its development, promotion, and management.
Altogether, 25 participants, including Vice Chairpersons of all participating rural municipalities, have joined the training. Sessions are facilitated by Technical Resource Persons Dr. Chetnath Kanel and Er. Krishna Gautam, while TAAN Project Coordinator Yuba Raj Lama oversees program coordination.
On the final day, participants will prepare a trail-based action plan and establish a committee for the development, promotion, and management of the BHHGLC trail to implement the plan.
