KATHMANDU: European Union Ambassador to Nepal Veronique Lorenzo paid a courtesy call on Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Khadak Raj Paudel on Monday, with the two sides exchanging views on tourism development, aviation safety, and the broader Nepal-EU partnership.

Minister Paudel used the occasion to underscore Nepal's emerging profile as a wellness tourism hub, pointing to its rich cultural heritage, spiritual traditions, and natural beauty as foundational assets. He also briefed the ambassador on policy reforms underway in tourism promotion and steps being taken to reinforce the institutional capacity of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

Ambassador Lorenzo, in turn, expressed the EU's readiness to deepen cooperation in culture and tourism, and highlighted removal of Nepal from the EU air safety blacklist as a goal shared by both sides. She voiced appreciation for Nepal's recent aviation safety improvements and its engagement with regional challenges.

The ministry said the visit is expected to open new avenues of collaboration in culture, tourism, and aviation — strengthening what it described as a growing bilateral partnership.
