The route to Camp III on Mt Manaslu has been opened and fixed with ropes, clearing the way for climbers to begin acclimatisation rotations and move essential equipment higher up the world's eighth-highest mountain.
Manaslu has set a new record for autumn climbing permits, with 422 climbers from 35 expedition teams receiving permits to attempt the 8,163-metre peak this season, according to the latest Department of Tourism data.
