KATHMANDU: A mixed team of international climbers and Nepali guides organised by Friends Adventure Team Pvt. Ltd. has become the first expedition to reach the summit of Ama Dablam (6,812m) in the Spring 2026 climbing season, following the route fixed by 8K Expeditions earlier this month.
The Attitude Montagne Ama Dablam Expedition 2026 team reached the summit under favourable weather conditions, with all members reported safe and in good condition, according to Rajendra Bahadur Lama, Managing Director of Friends Adventure Team. The team has since begun its descent.
The summit team comprised Nepali mountain guides Nuru Wanchu Sherpa, Rohan Thapa Magar, and Lal Bir Tamang, alongside American climbers Nicolas Charles Tanner and Ariana Bronwen Thomas.
According to Lama, all team members are safe and in good condition and have started their descent. He noted that the success marks a promising start to the spring 2026 climbing season, highlighting the continued excellence of Nepal's mountaineering industry.
The achievement comes days after 8K Expeditions fixed ropes to the Ama Dablam summit on April 4, officially opening the route for the spring season.
That operation was led by Pasdawa Sherpa and a four-member rope-fixing team, with 8K Expeditions Chairman Pemba Sherpa crediting the team's professionalism and commitment for the timely route preparation.
Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and technically challenging peaks in the Himalayas, Ama Dablam demands high levels of skill and experience.
According to Department of Tourism data released on April 10, five teams with a total of 58 members had obtained permits to climb the peak this spring.
