ITBP All Women Everest Expedition achieves 100% summit success

KATHMANDU: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) All Women Expedition 2026 has successfully summited Mount Everest, achieving a 100 percent success rate, expedition organisers said on Thursday.
According to Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Expedition Director at Seven Summit Treks, the team began reaching the summit from 8:00 am onwards on Thursday morning under the leadership of Team Leader Bhanita Timungpi, Climbing Leader Anoop Kumar, and Expedition Sirdar and IFMGA Guide Sonam Chhiring Lama.
Indian summiteers:
Anoop Kumar (Climbing Leader), Padma Tundup, Kapil Dev, Stanzin Chorol, Disket Chhorol, Dechen Spalzes, Kunzang Lamo, Gnersongmit Lepcha, Ruchi, Prabina Rai, Anju Rani, Tila Sen, Rupamoni Gorh, and Lobsang Choten.
Sherpa summiters:
Chhiring Sonam Lama (UIAGM Guide/Sirdar), Pasang Bhote, Jangbu Sherpa, Dawasange Sherpa, Karma Gyalje Sherpa, Pema Thinduk Sherpa, Mingma Dorchi Sherpa, Pimba Nurpu Bhote, Jamling Bhote, Chhedar Bhote, Chhembi Bhote, Nima Sherpa, Pas Dukpa Sherpa, Tenji Sherpa, Phurenje Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, and Chhiring Bhote.
"We warmly congratulate the entire ITBP team on this inspiring achievement. This success beautifully reflects the strength and courage of women in high-altitude mountaineering," said Chhang Dawa Sherpa.
The expedition team also included Associate Team Members Dr Aravind Prasannan and CT-Med Prem Prakash.
Seven Summit Treks, which served as the logistics partner for the expedition, said it has long been a trusted partner for Indian government expeditions in the Himalayas.
"We are deeply honoured to support this historic all-women expedition, which not only showcases Nari Shakti but also strengthens the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Nepal and India at the highest altitudes," the company said.
The organisers wished the entire team a safe descent back to Base Camp.
