KATHMANDU: Senior officials of the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) on Sunday observed the final examinations of trainees who recently completed the Summer Skill Course under the Professional Mountain Guide Training programme, implemented under a new curriculum approved by the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

NMA President Fur Gelje Sherpa, General Secretary Rajendra Bahadur Lama, and Secretary Chandan Thapa were present during the examinations, which marked the conclusion of the latest training batch.

The training was conducted from August 13 to September 12, 2025, in Kathmandu and at Lhayul Peak in Darchula district of Sudurpaschim Province. A total of 14 students participated in the programme and completed the course.

According to the NMA, the two-day final examination was held at the association’s secretariat in Nagpokhari, Naxal, and at Sahid Park in Jagdol, assessing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for professional mountain guiding.

The training programme was implemented with financial support from the Sustainable Tourism Project (STP), a joint initiative of the Nepal Tourism Board and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to strengthen professional skills in Nepal’s tourism sector and promote safer and more sustainable mountain tourism.
