KATHMANDU: Sixteen climbers from Imagine Nepal reached the summit of Mount Everest on Wednesday, including a Norwegian husband-and-wife pair and a Canadian who conquered the world's highest peak after surviving stage 4 lymphoma, completing the trekking and expedition company's first Everest summit group of the 2026 spring season.

The summiteers stood atop the 8,849-metre peak between 10:38 and 10:48 AM Nepal time, comprising six international climbers from Norway, Canada, and China, alongside ten Sherpas, expedition organizer, Imagine Nepal said.

The six international summiteers were Hakon Andreas Hyttedalen (Norway), Hanne Nicole Briedis Hyttedalen (Norway), Charles-Antoine Lanthier (Canada), Li Yitong (China), Hu Haina (China), and Liu Haibo (China).

Among the most notable ascents was that of Charles-Antoine Lanthire of Canada, who scaled Everest for a cancer charity after beating stage 4 lymphoma. Norwegian couple Hakon Andreas Hyttedalen and Hanne Nicole Briedis Hyttedalen also reached the summit together, at 10:42 AM.

The season was not without obstacles. When the summit route remained unfixed, Imagine Nepal's Sherpas climbed to the South Summit without outside support, ultimately making the final push possible for all teams on the mountain that day, Mingma G of Imagine Nepal said.

"When the summit route wasn't fixed, our Sherpas stepped in, climbing to the South Summit without support and making the summit possible for every team on the mountain today," he added. "If there is the will, even three people are enough."

The summit fixing team consisted of Ila Nuru Sherpa, Fura Namgya Sherpa, and Pasang Ngima Sherpa. The full Sherpa team included Dawa Tenjin Sherpa, Lakpa Tamang, Jit Bahadur Sherpa, Lakpa Nuru Sherpa, Angdu Sherpa, Ngima Nuru Sherpa, and Jangbu Sherpa.
