More than 100 tourists rescued from Rasuwa flood, NDRRMA list shows

KATHMANDU: More than 100 foreign nationals, including a large group of Indian tourists and visitors from China, South Korea, the United States and Italy, have been rescued from the flood-affected areas of Rasuwa following the devastating Bhotekoshi flash flood, according to details compiled by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA).
The list, received from the District Administration Office, Nuwakot, records 114 rescued persons, including 113 people listed from serial numbers 659 to 771 and Nawalesh Sharma of India, who was separately included in the details. The rescued people include nationals of India, China, South Korea, the United States and Italy. Most were rescued from Rasuwa, while the document does not specify a rescue location for Pramod Gupta.
The largest group comprises Indian nationals. The list also records 14 Chinese nationals: Gong Yu, 25; Peng Guany Xiu, 45; Fang Guo Tav, 48; Zhang Chuan, 60; Tian Zu, 35; Yao Banghoa, 50; Weiyoug Sheng, 52; Liuren Sheng, 53; Zhang Tong Fong, 46; Guo Tu Chuan, 46; Clol Zhi Hang, 40; Cuan Li Ting, 55; Cai Xiu Bin, 53; Xin Zhi Qiang, 52; Hang Chang Lin, 43; and Nong Wenxiuo, 31.
Eight South Korean nationals are listed as Byeng Kwan Kim, 56; Minsu Shin, 69; Joebok Yang, 56; Toenoon Yom, 57; Hyunho Song, 48; Hyunseong Sog, 58; Tove Yon Kim, 40; Jong Holim, 56; and Kim Kyomg Hoou, 54.
The document further lists two US nationals, Pattabiraman Venkatesan, 63, and Anjana Raja, 54, and two Italian nationals, Valentina Piccinini, 37, and Stefano Lotumolo, 39.
The rescued foreign nationals are part of the continuing search-and-rescue operation following the Bhotekoshi River flash flood, which swept through parts of Rasuwa and affected travel routes and tourism activity in the northern district.
Authorities and tourism agencies have been working to establish the whereabouts of tourists and travellers who were in or passing through the affected areas, while the status of others reported missing continues to be verified.
