New book offers cultural, spiritual, and logistical insights into the revered journey through Nepal
KATHMANDU: Travel writer Rajendraman Dangol has released a new memoir, Kailash Kora, which recounts his spiritual and physical journey to Kailash Mansarovar, one of Asia’s holiest pilgrimage sites.
Published by Nepalaya, the 158-page book presents a narrative blend of travel experience, spiritual reflection, and practical advice for those planning the Kailash Yatra via Nepal. The memoir comes at a time when pilgrimage traffic to the site is increasing steadily, especially via routes accessible from Nepal.
Dangol, who undertook the two-week journey last year, said the book attempts to present “the spiritual essence and geographic truths of the origins of four great rivers: Brahmaputra, Sutlej, Indus, and Karnali.”
Prominent pilgrimage tour operator Jyoti Adhikari described Kailash Kora as a work that “transcends words,” highlighting how past journeys by noted personalities like Narayana Wagle and Amrit Gurung have deepened public appreciation for the yatra.
Known for his previous works including Kanchanjunga Lai Niyalda, Dangol’s writing is part of Nepal’s school curriculum and has earned him recognition, including a Padmashree Literary Award nomination.
The book includes 11 chapters and route maps, is priced at Rs 395, and is now available globally through Amazon and locally on Thuprai.com in print and digital formats.
