KATHMANDU: The Embassy of Nepal in Bangladesh and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) jointly organized the Nepal-Bangladesh Tourism Meet in Dhaka under the theme “Neighbourly Nepal: Land of Lifetime Experiences”, on June 22.

The event aimed to boost tourism ties and foster people-to-people connections between the two countries.

Nepali Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari highlighted Nepal’s growing appeal among Bangladeshi travellers, citing its natural beauty, cultural richness, and adventure offerings. He encouraged deeper B2B engagement to strengthen bilateral relations through tourism.

NTB Officiating Director Rohini Prasad Khanal showcased Nepal’s diverse travel experiences—from trekking and paragliding to wellness and emerging sectors like medical tourism. “We invite Bangladeshis not just to visit, but to connect with Nepal and return with lasting memories,” he said.

Bangladesh’s Joint Secretary of Civil Aviation and Tourism, AKM Moniruzzaman, emphasized the potential for joint tourism packages to promote both countries as complementary destinations.

Deputy Chief of Mission Lalita Silwal reaffirmed Nepal’s commitment to enhancing tourism cooperation with Bangladesh.

The event also featured Bangladeshi mountaineer Ikramul Hassan Shakil, who shared his journey from sea level to the summit of Mt. Everest on May 19, 2025. Other speakers included ATAB President Abdus Salam Aref and Asian Tourism Fair Chairman Mohiuddin Helal.

Cultural performances and a raffle draw added vibrancy to the evening, with prizes including Dhaka–Kathmandu round-trip tickets and Nepal holiday packages.

Prior to the ceremony, B2B networking sessions were held between tour operators from both countries. The Nepali delegation included NTB officials and representatives from 13 travel companies. Over 150 participants attended the event, including tourism professionals, hoteliers, airline reps, and government officials.
