KATHMANDU: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is showcasing Nepal’s diverse tourism offerings at MATKA 2026—the largest travel fair in the Nordic region—currently underway at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre in Finland.
According to the NTB, the Nepal pavilion has been attracting strong interest from Finnish and other Nordic visitors, with inquiries ranging from air connectivity and seasonal weather to mountaineering, trekking, adventure travel, and cultural tours. With Nordic travellers showing a strong preference for outdoor activities, nature-based experiences, and authentic cultures, Nepal continues to stand out as a preferred destination.
Nepal is represented at the fair through a 54-square-metre national pavilion (Stall No. 7m130), with participation from nine Nepali tourism companies, including Asian Adventure Treks & Expedition, Himalayan Windows, Snowy Horizon Treks & Expedition, Goreto Treks and Expedition, Earthbound Expedition, Himalayan Guides Nepal Treks & Expedition, The Everest Holiday, Queen Bee Travel Assistance, and Wonderland Travels Nepal.
We are thrilled to be attending Matka Travel Fair 2026 (the largest travel fair in the Nordic region) from 15–18 January here in beautiful Helsinki, Finland,” said Iswari Paudel, Managing Director at Himalayan Guides. Soaking in the crisp winter air, enjoying inspiring conversations, and embracing the vibrant travel atmosphere., we are truly looking forward to the exciting days ahead, he added.
MATKA 2026 serves as a key platform to strengthen Nepal’s presence and partnerships in the Nordic tourism market, NTB said. Nordic countries, including Finland, are considered important source markets for Nepal, particularly for trekking, adventure tourism, sustainable travel, and Himalayan experiences.
NTB Chief Executive Officer Deepak Raj Joshi said the fair offers an effective platform to engage with Nordic travel professionals and consumers, adding that Nepal’s participation reflects its commitment to promoting sustainable, experiential, and year-round tourism while reinforcing long-standing tourism ties with Finland and the wider Nordic region.
During the event, NTB officials are conducting business meetings, destination promotions, and cultural activities at the Nepal pavilion with support from the Finland–Nepal Friendship Association.
