Greek mountaineer Asimina Inglezou, a Guinness World Record holder, successfully summited Mount Makalu (8,485m), the world's fifth-highest peak, at 7:45 AM on Saturday.
A team of 10 Sherpas under the Expedition Operators' Association Nepal successfully fixed ropes to Camp IV at the South Col of Mount Everest, at 7,906 metres, by 7:15 pm on Thursday, opening the high-altitude route for the spring climbing season's summit bids.
Mount Everest has received permits for 492 climbers this spring, the highest number ever recorded for the world's tallest peak, according to data released by the Department of Tourism on May 8.
