KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines has issued a public apology after a network map shared on its social media channels depicted Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan rather than India, triggering sharp backlash on X.
In a statement, the carrier acknowledged "significant cartographic inaccuracies regarding international boundaries" in the post, stressing that the map "does not reflect the official stance of Nepal or Nepal Airlines." The airline said it had immediately removed the post and launched an internal review to ensure future materials meet accuracy standards. It also expressed regret for any offence caused, noting it "deeply values strong relationships with neighbours and friends in the region."
The error drew swift criticism online, with users calling out the national flag carrier for the politically sensitive misrepresentation of one of South Asia's most contested territories.
