NMA, Russian Embassy discuss Russian corner at International Mountain Museum

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nepal have begun discussions on establishing a Russian Corner at the International Mountain Museum (IMM) in Pokhara as part of efforts to strengthen cultural and mountaineering cooperation between the two countries.
According to the NMA, the proposal was discussed during a meeting between NMA President Fur Gelje Sherpa and Anastasia Khokhlova, Counsellor at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Nepal and Director of the Russian House in Kamalpokhari.
The meeting, held at the NMA Secretariat in Nagpokhari, Naxal, focused on the concept of creating a dedicated Russian Corner at the International Mountain Museum in Gharipatan, Pokhara.
The NMA said both sides expressed their commitment to working closely together and continuing discussions to finalise the concept, scope and implementation of the proposed initiative.
According to the association, the proposed Russian Corner is expected to strengthen cultural ties between Nepal and the Russian Federation while promoting greater collaboration through a shared appreciation of mountain heritage, exploration and culture.
