UPDATE: Two bodies recovered from Himlung Himal avalanche site; search underway

KATHMANDU: At least two bodies of missing mountain workers were recovered from the avalanche site late this afternoon as the search and rescue team intensified SAR activities on Himlung Himal.
According to the Nepal National Mountain Guides Association, a total of 14 kitchen and base camp staff members and two climbing guides from different companies were missing after the avalanche struck tents early this morning.
“The two climbing guides have been found, but sadly, both were found deceased,” the association said.
The rescue team — Mingma G., Pasang Kaji Sherpa, Ashish Gurung, and Pemba Tsiring Sherpa — reached the accident site by a Prabhu helicopter and has already begun the search and rescue mission. Four additional members of the rescue team are on their way to Himlung Base Camp.
