KATHMANDU: The Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) has issued a weather advisory as the remnants of a cyclonic storm, now a well-marked low-pressure system over central India, approach Nepal.
The system is expected to influence Nepal over the next 36–48 hours, bringing significant weather changes. Snowfall is likely over high Himalayan areas above 3,800–4,000 meters, while rainfall may affect mid-hill regions and the Terai plains below 3,600 meters, particularly from the evening of October 30 through the night of October 31.
An additional 20–40 cm of snow is expected over high mountains during this period, adding to the deposits from October 27–29. The weather may improve by the afternoon and evening of November 1, with clearer conditions and sunny mornings and nights anticipated between November 2–4.
NNMGA also noted early indications of a potential new Western Disturbance from the evening of November 4 to the night of November 5, which could bring snowfall over western high mountains and regions including Karnali and Darchula.
Authorities and mountaineers are advised to remain alert and monitor updates as conditions evolve.
