KATHMANDU: A team of four climbers including two senior international mountain guides today left for Samagaun of Manaslu region to search for two Italian climbers who have gone missing on Panbari Himal (6,887 metres) since October 28.

According to the Nepal National Mountain Guides Association, two IFMGA guides Narendra Shahi (Naren) and Pasang Kaji Sherpa along with aspirant guide Kusang Sherpa would be conducting a search and rescue mission on Panbari Himal.

“Three mountain guides and expedition leader of the Italian team Vatler Perlino left for Samagaun of Gorkha for a search mission,” the NNMGA said.

Farronato Stefano and Caputo Alessandro, members of the Italian Panbari Q7 Expedition, have gone missing in the area after being trapped in heavy snowfall since October 28, said the Department of Tourism.

As per the information provided by Vatler Perlino, the team members were stranded at Camp I on October 28 and remain out of contact since then. The expedition was organised by Kathmandu-based Sherpa Alpine Trekking Service.

Climbing and trekking activities were affected in the last six days after Cyclone Montha brought widespread rain and snow across the country.
