Sita Air aircraft suffers wheel failure at Juphal Airport

KATHMANDU: A Sita Air aircraft suffered a wheel failure while landing at Juphal Airport in Dolpa on Thursday morning, disrupting flights at the airport.
The aircraft, which had flown from Nepalgunj carrying 13 passengers, had its rear right wheel come off and became stranded on the runway at around 8:25 am, according to police.
The passengers, including seven foreign nationals and six Nepali citizens, were all reported safe. The passengers comprised 11 men and two women.
District Police Office, Dolpa, said the aircraft remained on the runway and technicians were inspecting it.
The incident has obstructed the runway, preventing other aircraft from landing or taking off from Juphal Airport until the aircraft is cleared.
